How to file at court

Which court to file at?

The court petition is filed at the competent court. Typically, this is:

  • The court at the defendant's domicile — general rule
  • The court at the defendant's registered office — if the defendant is a legal entity
  • The court chosen by the claimant — in cases provided by law (e.g., consumer disputes)

If you are unsure which court is competent, check the defendant's address and identify the corresponding court.

How to file

In-person filing (at the registry)

  1. Go to the court registry
  2. Submit the petition and attachments in the required number of copies
  3. Request a stamp on your copy
  4. Keep the stamped copy as proof of filing

Filing by mail

  1. Send the petition and attachments by registered mail with return receipt
  2. Keep the postal receipt and return receipt

What you need when filing

  • Court petition (signed)
  • Copies of all attachments (for each party)
  • State fee payment receipt
  • Copy of identity document
  • Pre-trial notice (if applicable)

What happens after filing

  1. Registration — the petition receives a case number
  2. Review — the judge verifies the petition is complete and correct
  3. Notification — the court sends a copy of the petition to the defendant
  4. Response deadline — the defendant has a legal deadline to respond

If the petition has deficiencies, the court may request corrections within a set deadline. Make sure your documents are complete before filing.
